Dave’s Story
Since I prayed and asked Jesus Christ to save me and I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit in 1988, my life has taken a dramatic turn for the better!

I went to Nebraska to learn how to train reining horses better from Doug Millholland. He had a prayer meeting in his tack room each morning for all the ranch hands; I was invited to attend. That struck me as strange at first, but after attending for a few mornings, I realized that there is nothing strange about believing in God and I did believe in God. But there was something different about the way that these guys prayed. It was as if they really expected something to happen. When I asked them, they said ‘We DO expect something to happen because we are Christians. Have you ever prayed and asked Jesus to save you?’

I replied, ‘Well, I pray, but I guess I haven’t been saved.’ So as a result of their influence, I asked Jesus to save me and experienced the rebirth. Three days after that, they laid hands on me and prayed for me to receive the infillment of the Holy Spirit.

Receiving the Holy Spirit was a profound personal experience with God. I didn’t know that a human could experience God like that. It made me change from believing that there is a God far off in Heaven somewhere to realizing that He lives within my being! He sticks closer than a brother and He will never leave me. From that point on, I have known that if God can touch a person in such a real physical way like that, then He can heal broken bones, drive out disease, and keep us completely healthy. I have walked in divine health without taking an aspirin or needing a Band-Aid for over three decades now! I firmly believe that God will do the same for anyone because ‘God is no respecter of persons’ (Acts 10:34).

I flew home and, two weeks later, started a chapter of Cowboys for Christ that met in my barn. Invitations to come and hold cowboy church services at trail rides, horse shows and rodeos came immediately, so I went and learned how to preach while I was doing them! I began to incorporate music with these cowboy church services and that has developed into David Davis Ministries.

Preachin’

David loves to minister the Word of God in churches, at rodeos, horse shows or whenever and wherever the opportunity arises. Frequently he moves in a strong anointing to operate in the gift of personal prophecy and activate others to move in the spiritual gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12.

Singin’

David has sung in churches, at festivals, fairs, and horse events nationally. He has performed at the 2000 to 2006 Christian Country Music Association (CCMA) conventions. His single, Never Change, climbed to #18 on the Power Source Christian Country Chart, and he has released another single, You’ll Reap What You Sow , that did well on the charts. He performs with soundtracks, guitar, fiddle, or sometimes with his Christian Country Band.

He is available to come to your church or event to present a Christian Contemporary and/or Country Concert, including the hit songs from his God Given Dream album. Contact for an available date for your event!

Preachin’ and Singin’

David has traveled and ministered extensively in word and song from Vermont to Arizona. Currently, he has ministered in 16 states and eight foreign countries over the past twenty years.

He can preach the Word, sing, or customize a presentation tailor-made to fit your unique event.

He can also present his Horseback Music Ministry in which he preaches, sings and demonstrates freestyle reining, cowboy dressage and a trick horse presentation.

About Davis Ranch Ministries Inc

In 2023, Davis Ranch Ministries officially became a not-for-profit organization. David Davis, the former owner of Davis Ranch, converted the ranch over to the not-for-profit to ensure that his work and vision of helping people through horsemanship stays alive. Through his work with horses, people, and ministry, he has touched hundreds of lives and wants to ensure that his legacy will live on long after his life has passed and he graduates to heaven.

This organization’s current plan is to expand upon David’s dream and create an educational venue centered around horseback riding, horsemanship, agriculture, and the revival of old-time, western-style living. In addition, The Davis Ranch will seek to partner with other organizations to build a horsemanship network across much of Southern Indiana to expand educational opportunities for all of our visitors and residents.

As a not-for-profit organization, the ranch is now able to expand in ways it could not as a for-profit ranch. The ranch is working alongside of a regional tourism initiative that has identified Hardinsburg as a key tourism hub that is 30 minutes from major attractions in every direction. We have also mapped out proposed trails through Hoosier National Forest and are starting to work with Indiana trails organizations to legitimize these.

Future Plans

Davis Ranch Ministries is currently authoring a grant submission plan. Our hope is that these grants will allow us to make many improvements that give visitors a better experience. Potential projects include:
● Wooden fencing
● Paved parking
● Expanded outdoor recreation offerings
● A trailhead with park amenities
● Additional horsemanship and educational events

Long-term, we want to transform the ranch into a unique horse park experience that helps its visitors have fun, exercise, grow to love and appreciate horses, and gain skills in horsemanship.
